Northport Arts Coalition and the Northport Public library present: Northport-East Northport Public Library, Northport Village. 7 PM.Free. www.northportarts.org On June 9, 7:00 PM, at the Northport Public Library, the Northport Reader's Theater will stage three plays written by playwright (and Greenlawn resident) Michael Casano and directed by Jo Ann Katz. June 4^th - The Northport Symphony Orchestra Chamber Ensembles will perform a free concert on Friday, June 4, 2010 at 7 P. M. The orchestra’s chamber ensembles comprise representatives of the orchestra's string and woodwind sections who come together to promote enjoyment of chamber music. The program will feature duets, trios, quartets and quintets from a variety of composers and musical styles. Through her art, Barbara seeks to explore themes found in the most celebrated poetry, music and theater: idealism, ambition, lust, hope, compassion, love, fear. As a contemporary realist painter, she builds on the traditions learned from Academic painting.

In this series of drawings and paintings, Barbara has drawn inspiration from the Greek god, Dionysos.

Andrew Darby writes, "[Dionysos] represents a force that is beyond human control but that we cannot shut out: the force that takes possession of our minds or places us outside ourselves, in 'ecstasy.'" Through music, wine and dance, we still seek the Dionysian as a respite from our increasingly mechanized lives.

NAC EVENT June 25^th-27^th Plein Air Painting Event: The search for the region’s most accomplished plein air painters continues this June in NAC’s 4th Annual Plein Air Painting Event. Select artists will be invited to paint within the Village of Northport (along the harbor and Main Street) on June 25th and 26th. At the end of the second day they will submit one painting for a silent auction to be held June 27th at LaMantia Gallery. Event will be held rain or shine. Sunday the 27^th will feature an exhibition and silent auction for the “wet” paintings at LaMantia Gallery. Prospectus: www.northportarts.org Applications due June 9^th. Great for Children! June July 2010 Calling All Knitters! Community Wooly Creature Project

Please join Thea Lanzisero and bring this to the attention of any knitters or crocheters who would like to be involved! Drop by any session which includes a guest artist talk, pop-up show & knitting with bamboo needles! Bring your needles (or crochet hooks!) and yarn,or use our donated materials. Collaborate with local artist Thea Lanzisero, meet other knitters and create tentacles for a colorful, large-scale wooly creature that will be exhibited at the library in July! Try your hand at 4ft long extreme knitting needles! As always, you’re welcome to just observe and enjoy !Join Thea on the following dates in the Library's Main Meeting Room, 338 Main Street, Huntington. The finished construction will be on view in July at the Huntington

Station Public Library Branch.

June 6^th - July 3^rd. The Art League of Long Island’s 54th Long Island Artists Exhibit will be showing at the League’s Jeanie Tengelsen Gallery starting June 6 and run through July 3. The opening reception will take place June 11 5pm – 7pm. The exhibit can be viewed Monday through Friday 9am – 4pm, and on Saturday and Sunday 11am - 4pm. June 11Jo-Ann Corretti will be exhibiting her Long island Paintings at Martha Clara Vineyard on Friday, June 11 for the annual North Fork Community Theatre Gala. There will be Broadway Show Tues, Food, Raffles, and featuring Academy Award nominated actress Cathy Moriarty as the evening's emcee. Jo-Ann has just completed her new Painting of the Darling little theatre.The Original Painting & prints will be on display, as well as other local scenes...all to benefit the theatre fund. July 2010. Jane McGraw-Teubner has been accepted into the International Association of Pastel Society's 16th Exhibition, to be held at the Butler Museum in Youngstown, Ohio.

June 10th. New York City Museum Tour: Picasso in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. C'est extraordinaire! June 13^th Thea Lanzisero received the Town of Huntington' s Public Art Initiative funding for a sculpture to be installed at the Anne Frank Memorial Arboretum in Melville, NY. The public garden dedication will be 1-4 pm on Sunday June 13th. The steel sculpture will be on view for one year. She will also be sponsored by Huntington Public Library for a NYSCA grant to create an interactive community artwork throughout the month of June.
