NAC ARTS NEWS October 2010

NAC WEDNESDAY
October 13th, 2010. 7pm (NAC Wed.) The Northport Arts Coalition in cooperation with the Northport /East Northport Library presents: "Silk": A dance from Nature to the Soul. A Butoh Dance performed by Susanne Daeppen. Susanne Daeppen, based in Switzerland, is an internationally known performer, choreographer, teacher, yoghini, and author of "Slow Movement: A Dance from Nature to the Soul".* Classically trained as a modern dancer in NYC, where she studied with Japanese Butoh Dance Masters, Eiko and Koma, she became entranced with Butoh and has devoted her life to working with the form and making it her own. *"Butoh concerns itself with birth, life and death .... It is a dance of reduction ... through unremitting slowness the inner state approaches trance, dream ecstasy, and deep attentiveness. ... A deep hidden wisdom emerges ... It allows us to trust in being human again ... Seen and unseen worlds encounter each other in the universal poetry; a voice of inner wisdom is awakened, expressing a viable path to unity. " All are welcomed. FREE ADMISSION - Northport Public Library, 151 Laurel Ave., Northport. For additional information call (631) 261-6930. Free, no tickets required.
