UN PETIT CABARET. A romantic,
musically adventurous candlelit evening, set up in cabaret style.
Opera singer Tara Kavanagh and
singer/songwriter Lois Morton collaborate with French Art
Songs by Debussy, popular songs from Edith Piaf, humorous songs of
social commentary, and a smattering of surprises in between.

Music: January 28 Friday, 7:30 PM - The Northport Arts Coalition in
cooperation with the Northport-East Northport Public Library proudly
presents: Olga Vinokur, concert pianist.
Ms. Vinokur has performed as a soloist and chamber musician at Weill
Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Merkin Hall, New
York’s Town Hall and is a frequent performer at Bargemusic in New
York where she plays solo recitals and chamber concerts which
include world premiers Olga has participated in Tel-Hai
International Piano Master Classes in Israel where she was awarded a
prize in honor of Ada Caspi. She also is presented in the film
documentary “Women of Music”, a classical music series on the Bravo
TV station, which features interviews and performances with today’s
top classical performers from around the world. Join us for an
exciting program of Rachmaninoff, Scriabin, Chopin and Liszt.
Artist reception and refreshments will immediately follow the

high-spirited Rodgers & Hammerstein musical
Oklahoma!, starring Northport resident Amy Connor as Aunt
Eller. In turn of the century Indian territory, the
rivalry between local farmers and cowboys provides the colorful
background for the courtship of Curly and Laurey whose romance is as
bumpy as a surrey ride down a country road.

21, 2011. The Northport Symphony Orchestra,
under the direction of Richard Hyman, will present a free concert
on Friday, January 21, 2011 at 8:00 P.M. at East Northport
Middle School. The program features Symphony No. 4 by
Franz Schubert and will also include additional works by Mozart and
Gluck. East Northport Middle School is located at 1075 Fifth Avenue,
East Northport (east of Larkfield Rd.). Donations

Touch of Theatre", presents “Pianist Vassily Primakov in Recital”.
The famous Moscow-born pianist Vassily Primakov
has enriched the current concert scene with blazing and deeply
personal playing, excelling in the Romantic repertoire. He has
appeared on the great stages of the U.S. and in Europe. BBC Music
Magazine’s critic Jessica Duchen writes: “Primakov is a serious
artist with fabulous pianistic skills. His tone is velvety, his
phrasing unfailingly sensitive….”
Mr.
Primakov returns to Ridotto with a program that includes
Kinderszenen by Schumann, Preludes by Rachmaninoff, and Schubert’s
Wanderer Fantasie, about which Schubert said of this technical tour
de force “the devil may play it”. At 4

Arabic Orchestra’s Winter Concert features the orchestra's
principal vocalist, Naji Youssef, the breathtaking Arabic voice of
New York, whose passion and skill stirs the soul of every
listener.The internationally acclaimed New York Arabic Orchestra
returns to Symphony Space on February 12, 2011 for its annual winter
event, presenting an all new repertoire of classical, contemporary
and popular Arabic vocal music. Bassam Saba leads the thirty-member
ensemble, comprised of ouds (Arabic lutes), nays (Arabic reed
flutes), the qanun (Arabic zither), Arabic percussion, strings,
woodwinds and chorus.Saba, regarded as one of the few greatest nay
players in the world, graces the stage with his passion and mastery
upon a myriad of instruments, including the oud, violin and Western
flute. In his distinguished thirty-year career as a performer and
educator, Saba has collaborated with artists such as Fairouz (the
diva of Lebanon), Marcel Khalife, Simon Shaheen, Sting, Alicia Keys
and Yo-Yo Ma.

Theater at Northport announces its next special event in their
ongoing Broadway Concert Series on Saturday, January 22, 2011
at 8 PM with Broadway Memories.
Produced exclusively for the John W. Engeman Theater by New York

won the Purchase Prize for "Brooklyn Morning" at the
Salmagundi Art Club Plein Air Painting Show held this past November

Through January 9, 2011The Art League of
Long Island Member's Exhibition is proud to showcase the
impressive talent of member artists in their annual show. Paintings,
drawings, collage, photography, print-making, ceramics, and
sculpture created by the Art League's members are on
display at the League's Jeanie Tengelsen Gallery October 31 through
January 9, 2011. The Member's Exhibition is divided into two parts
in order to accommodate the more than 200 works of art created by
student and professional artists vying for top prizes. Prizes will
be awarded by noted artist and educator Winn Rea, a member of the
Phoenix Gallery in NYC and an Assistant Professor of Art at the C.W.
Post Campus of LIU. She is a process-based environmental artist
whose works on paper, sculptures, and installations have been
exhibited extensively in South Korea and the United States.
January 13, 2011"The Artistic Furniture of
Charles Rohlfs" at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. On January
13 take a relaxing bus trip from the
Art League in Dix Hills to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
After a year-long national tour, this exhibit makes its final
stop at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The exhibit,
which closes January 23, features turn of the century works by
craftsman Charles Rohlfs (1853-1936) whose furniture designs were
sheer artistry and whose work can befound in Buckingham Palace.
His intricately carved furniture is mainly representative of
the American Arts and Crafts movement of the time, but Rohlfs
preferred to call his work "The Rohlfs Style" or" artistic

Recognized for Top Awards in “Double Take: A Member’s Exhibition in
Two Parts”The Art League of Long Island is pleased to announce the
winners of Part One of their annual Member’s Exhibition.
Of the 96 entries, seven artists received the following
awards of distinction as judged by noted artist and educator Winn

Darkness"; Part Two exhibits December 12 through January 9,
2011. In addition to exhibitions in its beautiful bi-level gallery,
the Art League offers a year-round, seven days a week program of
classes and one-day workshops in all art forms, including fiber and
